There were buildings and towers too. I didn’t take pictures of those, for obvious reasons. We didn’t see any people in the towers or at the gate, so my guess is that the area is used for training of conscripts or something like that. We saw unnatural holes with burnmarks in the terrain, might have been grenade craters.
Sure looked like some kind of military area to me, but who knows. I’m glad not to be there )

It seems like just a protected area, more than being like a military base.
